External Exams

University campuses each have their own way of applying external exam credit toward a bachelor’s degree, which may be different from how Cerritos College applies such credit toward an associate degree.

AA and AS Degrees

Visit the Cerritos College catalog for information on how Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), and College Level Exam Program (CLEP) may be applied to a local Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree.

AA-T and AS-T Degrees, Transfer GE, CSU, and UC

Associate in Arts for Transfer (AA-T) and Associate in Science for Transfer (AS-T) degrees require completion of a transfer GE pattern. For most students, this will be Cal-GETC, though some students with continuous attendance prior to Fall 2025 may opt to use CSU GE-Breadth or IGETC.

The resources below provide information on the minimum units of credit the CSU and UC systems will award for external exams:

Maximum units and specific course credit that may be applied to major requirements will differ from campus to campus. Please refer to the university websites for details.
