AVCSS
The Advanced Vehicle Control and Safety Systems user service bundle include seven user services:
- Longitudinal Collision Avoidance which uses sensor technology to detect and avoid
collisions to the front
and/or rear of the vehicle. - Lateral Collision Avoidance which uses sensor technology to detect and avoid collisions
to the side of the vehicle during lane change and blind spot situations.
- Intersection Collision Avoidance which uses sensor technology to detect and avoid
collisions at intersections.
- Vision Enhancement for Crash Avoidance which uses infra red or radar to provide increased
visibility at night and in inclement weather condition, and to detect and avoid objects
on roadways.
- Safety Readiness which uses sensor technology to monitor vehicular components road
worthiness.
- Pre-Crash Restraint Deployment which uses safety-belt, air-bag and related technologies
to minimize injuries from collision.
- Automated Highway System which uses collision avoidance, navigation, and communications technologies with minimal driver intervention to increase highway throughput and safety (see discussion on AHS on the next page).
