Meet and chat with alumna Katherine L. Garcia, on Wednesday, March 9 at 6 pm on Zoom. 

Katherine is a former ASCC Student Senator, Environmental Club President, and Faculty Senate Liaison of Cerritos College.

She earned her Liberal Arts degree from Cerritos College and transferred to University of California, Santa Barbara, where she earned her Bachelor's in Cultural Anthropology. In December 2021, she earned her MBA from California State University, Los Angeles.

Today, Katherine is the Director of Marketing Operations at Web Marketing Therapy, an agency specializing in marketing support and optimization. She helps businesses nationwide with their digital marketing. She is also a Board Member at Orange County Coastkeeper, an organization dedicated to protecting our waters.

"I've been to many colleges throughout my educational journey, but nothing compares to Cerritos College. That school changed my life in ways I will forever be thankful for."

Alumni Jouneys with Elizabeth Flores

Elizabeth Flores '10 / is an educator, entrepreneur, author, and podcast host. She is a Ph.D. Candidate at the University of California, Davis’ School of Education, and a Cerritos College alumna. Her research on community colleges has been published as well as highlighted at national educational conferences.

She is an innovative diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) advocate seeking to make systemic changes within and outside of the field of education that especially benefit those who are traditionally disenfranchised.

Alumni Journeys with Seth Contreras

Alumnus Seth Contreras works directly with cities to help them think through – critically and creatively – sustainable mobility solutions that keeps their economy moving, their air clean and the people active. He currently works for Fehr & Peers in Long Beach, a private transportation planning consulting firm whose mission is to improve communities through evidence-based best practices. Seth graduated in 2005 with his AA from Cerritos College, where he also won the Mr. Cerritos pageant. After receiving his Masters in Transportation Engineering from UC Berkeley, he spent two years at the Port of Long Beach helping them accelerate their Green Port, Clean Air program. In 2014 he performed professionally in Mexico City with the national Ballet Folklorico De Mexico dance company.

After receiving his PhD from UC Irvine in Transportation Planning, he worked for three years with a think-tank in Washington, DC on sustainable mobility. Seth also teaches Land Use and Transportation Planning in the Sol Price School of Public Policy at USC.

Alumni Journeys with AJ Girard

Did you know one of the most exciting and energetic voices in today's art world is also a Cerritos College alumnus?
 
Independent curator and cultural strategist AJ Girard returns to Cerritos College via Zoom for a special Alumni Journeys event on August 25 at 6 pm, presented by the Cerritos College Alumni Association and the Cerritos College Visual & Cultural Studies program.

AJ will talk about his academic journey, the "Shattered Glass" exhibition he co-curated that received critical acclaim and praise by the New York Times and Los Angeles Times, and his current work.

Alumni Journeys with Antonio Prieto

Antonio Prieto '98 is a first-generation Latino and the first in his family to attend college. He has over 19 years of experience as a Satellite Systems Engineer at Northrop Grumman. He is currently the Assistant Department Manager in the Space Systems Engineering & Integration Center, developing programs to help acclimate employees to the company and support employee career development. He leads a team of senior system engineering leaders, is a hiring manager, and supports numerous programs providing them with people, processes, and tools.
