Teacher

Hello! My name is Diana Echeverria and I began my journey as a parent of Cerritos College Child Development Center when my son first attended in 2002. I have been a Teacher at our center since 2004 and I am truly blessed to work at such a beautiful school where children have the opportunity to explore an environment that is filled with endless possibilities. I hold a B.S. in Child Development from the University of La Verne which I obtained in 2007 and a M.A.Ed. Masters in Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood from California State University Long Beach in 2017. In addition, I hold a Site Supervisor Permit from the State of California. In 2015 I was honored by being awarded the Los Angeles County Preschool Teacher of the Year Award.

I have been married for over 10 years and we have an incredible son who is in college and pursuing a degree in the medical field. In my free time I enjoy spending time with family and friends in the outdoors exploring nature. I love everything Disney and traveling to new places. Cooking makes me happy as I’m a foodie at heart and we really enjoy visiting and trying new restaurants and food concoctions.

My passion for the Reggio Emilia Philosophy is fostered by its principles and my image of the child. I believe that all children are competent and capable learners. They have the right to express themselves through their 100 languages and the opportunity to wonder and be constructors of their own learning. My role as an educator is to understand their prior knowledge which they have learned from their family and work alongside them as a co researcher. Together we will explore new ideas and concepts to get a better understanding of how the world works around us.
