Former Cerritos College student Dazzles Michelle Obama’s Inauguration Hair Style

Did you know that Michelle Obama's gorgeous hair style at President Biden's inauguration last week was created by Falcon alumna Yene Demtew? She joined the Cerritos College Cosmetology program at the age of 16 in 2006, and made the Dean's list and graduated in 2008. Read about her in Vogue online.

Our very own President Dr. Jose Fierro, Vice President Dr. Dilcie Perez, English Professor Damon Cagnolatti, HR Technician Rebecca Pang, and Student Trustee Johnny Wallce served as guest presenters for the Chancellor's Office's new Courageous Leadership Webinar Series on January 21. The webinar engaged college leaders from across the state in a conversation to lift up what is working in championing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and anti-racism on campuses. Congratulations!

Cerritos College student Kris Medina was one of many that were touched by President Biden's inauguration speech. The communications major turned the President's words into a piece of art. His art on instagram (@tofer.medina) went viral, and was featured on ABC7 Eyewitness News. View the clip.

Meet Alumnus Manny Mejia

Manny Mejia earned the Structural Damage Specialist Certification from the College’s Automotive Collision Repair Program in 2018. After two months of job search, he was offered a job at a dealership. Manny was able to repair a Dodge Challenger that most people thought was totaled, with the knowledge, advanced material repair techniques, welding and mechanical aptitude he gained at Cerritos College. His future goals are to one day open a custom fabrication shop and work on high-end vehicles. “Don’t give up, there are always going to be obstacles so don’t hesitate to ask for help,” he said.
