Instructor Lee Anne McIlroy Pens Book on Her Fellowship in Tanzania

Cerritos College ESL Instructor and Department Chair Lee Anne McIlroy is publishing a book Sleeping with Lions on November 1. In the nonfiction book, Lee Anne highlights her experience as the Senior English Language Fellow in Tanzania in 2013, where she worked as a Language Fellow for the U.S. Department of State administered by Georgetown University’s Center for Intercultural Education and Development. She has also worked as a Language Specialist in Tanzania and the Comoros Islands through the embassies of Tanzania and Madagascar. The book celebrates Tanzania's rich cultural, historical, natural, and linguistic landscapes while reflecting on her own life, exploring what it means to be a mother, a woman, and most importantly, a human being in the modern world.

Lee Anne also serves as the Student Learning Outcomes Coordinator and the Bhagavan Kunthunath Endowed Scholar of Jain Thought Leadership on campus. For more information about Lee Anne’s book Sleeping with Lions, please contact her at lamcilroy@cerritos.edu.
