Accounting Instructor Charles Osaki among top 100 accountants in L.A.
Cerritos College accounting instructor Charles Osaki was honored as one of L.A.’s
top 100 accountants by the Los Angeles Business Journal on November 8.
The annual awards recognize the top accounting professionals in the Los Angeles region for their ongoing efforts as outstanding financial stewards.
Osaki is a CPA with 40 years of experience and has taught accounting at Cerritos College since 2019. He is active in the California Society of CPAs (CalCPA), having held various positions, including chair of the Accounting Education State Committee and president of the Board of Trustees, Council, and Nominations Committee during his 22-year membership. Osaki currently serves on the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Commission.
Osaki founded the Pathway to Success Program at Cerritos College in 2020, which supports first-generation and underrepresented college students pursuing professional careers in accounting. Pathway provides activities, training, and mentoring with participants to build the personal relationships, skills, and confidence necessary to successfully advance to a four-year university and a post-college career. The program has now transitioned to CalCPA and expanded to support students from three community colleges.
“Charlie's passion for teaching and mentoring students is unmatched,” said Shelly Medina, Los Angeles program manager of CalCPA. “Charlie possesses a wealth of knowledge and is always willing to share it with his students and peers. His contributions to the Los Angeles Chapter have been invaluable. He selflessly dedicates his time to educating and guiding our chapter, helping to nurture the pipeline of future accountants.”
