Faculty honored for outstanding service

Faculty awards recipientsTwenty faculty members were honored for their service and mentorship to students during the Outstanding Faculty Awards ceremony on April 25. Organized by the Faculty Senate and the Professional Relations Committee, the event was attended by faculty members, administrators, staff, and students. The Most Outstanding Faculty award was presented to Dr. Ken Matsuura, counselor, for his strong commitment to students. 

Ken Matsuura has been a valuable member of the Cerritos College community for 34 years. He has served in various leadership roles in Counseling and has earned a Master's and Doctorate degree from UCLA. As the college's Articulation Officer, Ken has worked on increasing the number of courses and degrees that transfer to four-year universities. He has also been instrumental in developing successful courses and programs for certificates and degrees. Ken enjoys working with faculty and students and has received prestigious awards for his service. He enjoys reading, following sports teams, and traveling in his free time.

Counselor Chelena Fisher was also honored as the Outstanding Contributor to Professional Development at the ceremony.
