Robin Taylor named Employee of the Month of May 2024
The Outstanding Classified/Confidential Employee Selection Committee named Robin Taylor,
communication services coordinator, student accessibility services, as the recipient
of the Outstanding Classified/Confidential Employee of the Month Award for May 2024.
Robin Taylor began her career as the Communications Services Coordinator in the Student Accessibility Services Department in 2020. Robin’s contributions to the college extend well beyond her regular responsibilities, exemplifying her unwavering commitment to supporting our deaf and hard-of-hearing community.
Robin has redefined our standards for hiring, placing, and training interpreters to provide culturally affirming and precise language interpretation. She has overhauled our guidelines, ensuring that students receive services from interpreters who understand the unique cultural needs of Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals. Her work ensures interpreters possess the necessary language skills and foster an inclusive environment.
She is actively involved in various activities. One example is her willingness to provide services on short notice and with high technical skill needs, no matter the day. For example, in athletic events, team meetings, and off-site games, Robin supports our deaf and hard-of-hearing students in athletic programs. She collaborates with practicum partners like Kaiser Permanente, offering specialized training to interpreters in medical terminology. Despite the national scarcity of medical interpreters, Robin has sourced these specialists while providing them opportunities to develop their skills further.
Robin, thank you for your dedication, commitment, and willingness to meet the needs of the students and staff. The administration, staff, and students appreciate your attributes and outstanding efforts. We are proud that you are a Cerritos College employee, and we commend you for your exceptional service and dedication.
