Anahi Mireles’ advocacy journey was inspired by her experiences with her brothers, who faced muscular dystrophy and cerebral palsy. College breaks ground on Child Development Center expansion

Cerritos College broke ground on the expansion of its award-winning Child Development Center (CDC) on June 3. College leadership, trustees, community partners, and children took up shovels for the official shovel-turn. The event celebrated a major community investment to reduce the center’s hundreds-deep waiting list, expand high-quality early childhood education, and provide critical, hands-on training for the next generation of educators. Carmela Fabien sworn in as Student Trustee for 2026-27

Carmela Fabien was sworn in as the student trustee for the 2026-27 academic year at the June 3 board meeting. President and Superintendent Dr. Jose Fierro administered the oath of office to Carmela, a highly involved and industrious student who aspires to become a nurse and possibly an RN JD. As she took the oath, Carmela expressed her commitment to lead with empathy, accountability, and integrity, to advocate for student voices, and to strengthen the community. Welcome aboard, Carmela!

Women’s wrestling claims victory on the mat and in the classroom

The Falcon Women’s Wrestling team excelled both on the mat and in the classroom. The team was named the 2026 3C2A Women's Team Scholar All-America Award winner, achieving an impressive team GPA of 3.51. This accomplishment highlights the program's strong commitment to academic and athletic excellence. "Cerritos College continues to set the standard for excellence on the mat and in the classroom," said the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Executive Director Mike Moyer. Cerritos College will host its Second Annual Car Show on Saturday, June 13, bringing the community together for a high-energy celebration of Southern California car culture. Open to the public, the event will feature a wide range of vehicles—from hot rods and lowriders to exotics, trucks, muscle cars, and classics—alongside DJ entertainment and local food trucks...
