JAUS Gallery

Opening it's doors in September of 2009, JAUS continues its mission towards delivering curatorial projects, by both in-house and outside curators, with an ample range of themes, genres, and media by artists from around the world in diverse stages of their careers. From 2014, JAUS has focused primarily on solo and two-person exhibitions.

FAR Bazaar Project

EXORDIUM

Description: During the months of February and March of 2017, Ichiro Irie will organize an exhibition and a series of related events at SDAI (San Diego Art Instittute) featuring over twenty emerging artists from Los Angeles, Tijuana, San Diego and beyond. A third of them are currently based in Los Angeles and its vicinity. As a prelude, seven of these artists will showcase works related to the ones they will exhibit in San Diego.

Armando Cortes completed his BA in Fine Art at UCLA. He has exhibited at Angels Gate Cultural Center, Los Angeles, Design Matters, Los Angeles, and Artist-Run Art Fair, Baltimore. He currently lives and works in Los Angeles.

Aaron Dadacay completed his BA in Fine Art at UCLA. He has exhibited at TJINCHINA project space, Tijuana, JAUS, Los Angeles, Campbell Works, London, and 18th Street Arts Center, Santa Monica. Born in the Philippines, he currently lives and works in Oxnard, CA.

Vick Garaventa is a Brazilian visual artist born 1989, in Sao Paulo and currently lives in Los Angeles. She graduated in Fine Arts at FAAP, Sao Paulo, Brazil, in 2010. She participated in the 41st and 42nd Art Annual at the university, for which she was granted the top scholarship prize. Garaventa has participated in two solo exhibits in Sao Paulo in 2014. She has shown in several group exhibitions including ones at the Museum of Brazilian Art (MAB) and the exhibitions program at the Museum of Art of Ribeirao Preto (MARP).

Dasha Orlova holds a bachelor’s degree in Design Media Arts from UCLA, in addition to a background in commercial video and design. Her work is focused in video and photography but overlaps with other forms of media and performance reflecting the subject matter and message of the work. Individual and collective identity, interconnection, and social norms are themes commonly explored in Orlova’s work.

Elyse Reardon–Jung is a Los Angeles bred artist. Her work has been shown in the states and abroad with CoLab at Art Platform Los Angeles, HomeLA, and the Eternal Telethon. She is a graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles.

Maria Villote completed her undergraduate education with honors at University of California, Berkeley in Practice of Art with an emphasis in Painting, Digital Photography & Sculpture. She has exhibited at 18th Street Arts Center, Santa Monica, JAUS and Control Room, Los Angeles. She currently lives and works in Oxnard, CA.

Eric Vrymoed (b. 1986 Sacramento, CA) is a Los Angeles based artist who primarily works in sculpture. Graduating from UCLA in 2011 in fine art, Vrymoed has exhibited at The Institute of Art and Olfaction, JAUS, TJINCHINA project space, and Mexicali Rose, and worked in collaboration with the Public Engagement Program at the Hammer Museum. He lives and works in Los Angeles.

Lena Wolek completed her BA in Fine Art at UCLA, and is now in the process of completing her MFA at CSULB. In 2014, she was awarded visiting artist at Mount St. Mary's College, Los Angeles, CA, with an accompanying solo exhibition at Jose Drudis-Biada Art Gallery. She has also exhibited internationally at Campbell Works, London, Muzeumm, Los Angelses, Egyption Art and Antiques, Los Angeles, and Brand Gallery, Glendale, and Torrance Art Museum.
