Retiree Linda Kaufman recognized

Linda Kaufman and Felipe LopezThe Cerritos College Board of Trustees recognized retiree Linda Kaufman, Administrative Assistant in Business Services for her many years of service to the college on July 15.

Linda's journey at Cerritos College began in 1988, when she joined as a short-term hourly employee and became a permanent Division Clerk in the Humanities and Social Sciences Division in 1989. She served in that role for more than ten years before being promoted in 1999 to Administrative Assistant  in Business Services, where she continued to make a lasting impact until her retirement.

When you look at Linda's career, the numbers are impressive – more than three decades of dedicated service, countless completed projects, and thousands of people she has helped along the way. But numbers alone don't tell Linda's story. Her legacy lies in the relationships she built, the professionalism she demonstrated every day, and the unwavering support she provided to everyone around her.

One remarkable fact about Linda's career is that she worked for eight different vice presidents. Anyone who has worked in higher education knows that each leader has a distinct management style, priorities, and expectations. Through every transition, Linda remained a steady constant. She adapted with grace, maintained her professionalism, and continued to provide exceptional support, no matter who occupied the office next door. That kind of consistency, flexibility, and dedication is rare and speaks volumes about who Linda is.

“Personally, I've had the privilege of working with Linda for the past nine and a half years. During that time, I've come to appreciate not only her incredible work ethic but also her calm demeanor, institutional knowledge, and willingness to help whenever needed. Linda has always been someone you could count on. She approached every challenge with quiet confidence and every task with meticulous attention to detail. She made difficult jobs look easy, and she did it all without seeking recognition or praise,” said Executive Vice President of Business Services Felipe Lopez.

People like Linda are truly the backbone of an organization. They keep things moving behind the scenes, solve problems before anyone else even realizes there is one, and create stability during times of change. Linda has done that for Cerritos College for more than 35 years.

As Linda begins this next chapter, she leaves behind more than a position – a legacy of service, professionalism, and excellence. Linda, thank you for your 38 years of commitment to Cerritos College.
