College expands student research with new Bruker NMR spectrometer
The Chemistry Department welcomed its first nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrometer, a Bruker Fourier 80. This new instrument gives students across chemistry, chemical technology, engineering technology, plastics, composites, and related programs even more opportunities for hands-on learning and research. Students can use NMR spectroscopy to identify and study organic compounds, polymers, and other materials while building valuable skills for their future careers. Following Bruker-led training on August 21, faculty and laboratory staff began operating the system, marking an important step forward for the college’s laboratories and its commitment to preparing students for careers in science and engineering.
