NORWALK, Calif. – October 11, 2022 – Cerritos College is ranked seventh among the top 100 colleges and universities with the highest Hispanic enrollment in the United States, according to the Hispanic Outlook on Education magazine.

The magazine created the rankings based on the National Center for Education Statistics/Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System Department of Education database. Cerritos College is also ranked 28th with the number of associate degrees earned by Hispanic students.

Cerritos College is a Hispanic-Serving Institution and boasts a nearly 70 percent Latino student population. This year, the College awarded a record-breaking 5,167 degrees and certificates in the 2021-22 academic year, making the Class of 2022 the largest graduating class in the 67-year-old campus’s history.  Cerritos College has a proven record for increasing success rates among Latinx students – especially first-generation students from underrepresented backgrounds – through innovative programs. In August, the College’s efforts in supporting Latinx students were featured by Hispanic Outlook. In June, the College was ranked 11th among the nation’s best community colleges by College Consensus. Individual programs such as accounting, cosmetology, and culinary arts have earned national and state accolades for excellence.

“We are humbled by this recognition,” said President/Superintendent Dr. Jose Fierro. “We must continue our efforts to close the achievement gaps for our students and make a positive impact on our students' lives and the communities we serve.”

The College is recognized as one of the leading institutions for Hispanics in the United States in the Top 100 Colleges and Universities for Hispanics issue of Hispanic Outlook (HO) magazine published on October 11.
