WPMD Named America’s Best Two-year College Radio Station Again

NORWALK, Calif. – December 14, 2022 – Cerritos College's WPMD radio station adds another top honor to its portfolio, earning the title of the Best Two-Year College Radio Station from the College Media Association (CMA). This is the second time WPMD has received this award since winning it for first time in 2019.

WPMD is a student-operated radio station at Cerritos College that provides content and programming worldwide on streaming sites including TuneIn, Streema, and Radio Shaker

In addition, student Carlos Madrigal’s show New Jams Rock Hour placed second and Theatre/Acting Associate Professor Brandt Reiter’s radio drama Tucumcari placed third in the Best Talk/Entertainment Program category.

“This is our third best station award in six years,” said WPMD Advisor and Theatre Arts Instructor Casey Piotrowski. “I’m proud of our students for their excellent work.”

WPMD was also named America’s Best Community College Radio Station by the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System in 2018.

Founded in 1954, College Media Association serves student media professionals, staff, and programs with education, research, and resources. CMA communicates and works with professional media organizations and education associations on the local, state, and national levels. CMA represents the nation’s collegiate media newspapers, yearbooks, magazines, and electronic media, in addition to broadcast.
