Students Who Began Before Fall 2025

GE PATTERNS FOR STUDENTS WHO BEGAN PRIOR TO FALL 2025

Plan A

Primarily for students interested in completing a local Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree to prepare for a vocational career upon graduation.

2024-2025 Plan A

Refer to our archived catalogs for previous versions of Plan A.

Plan B (aka CSU GE-Breadth)

Primarily for students interested in transferring to a CSU campus. It may be used to meet the GE requirements for an Associate Degree for Transfer (AA-T or AS-T).

2024-2025 Plan B

If not taken prior to Fall 2026, PSYC 262 and POL 280 will not count for Area F.

Refer to ASSIST for approved CSU GE-Breadth courses based on academic year.

Completing CSU GE-Breadth will permit students to transfer to CSU campuses without the need for additional lower-division coursework to be completed after transfer.

Plan C (aka IGETC)

Primarily for students interested in transferring to a UCor CSU campus. It may be used to meet the GE requirements for an Associate Degree for Transfer (AA-T or AS-T).

2024-2025 Plan C

Lists courses approved if completed Fall 2024, Spring 2025, or Summer 2025. If not taken prior to Fall 2026, CHIN 102 will not count for Area 3B; and PSYC 262 and POL 280 will not count for Area 7.

Refer to ASSIST for approved IGETC courses based on academic year.

Completing IGETC will permit students to transfer to all CSUs and most UC campuses and programs without the need for additional lower-division coursework to be completed after transfer.

Continuing students may wish to follow our new GE patterns of CGEC or Cal-GETC. It might be to their advantage to do so. Students are strongly encouraged to connect with a counselor to discuss which GE pattern is right for them.

Regardless of continuous attendance, for a course to be counted toward CSU GE-Breadth, IGETC, or Cal-GETC, it must have been approved for the academic year in which it was successfully completed. While rare, courses are sometimes removed from a list. For example, effective Fall 2026, PSYC 262 and POLS 280 cannot be applied to the Ethnic Studies area of CSU GE-Breadth, IGETC, or Cal-GETC (Areas F, 7, and 6 respectively); and CHIN 102 cannot be applied to the Humanities area of IGETC or Cal-GETC (Area 3B). For a complete listing of courses and their approval dates, please visit ASSIST

Students eligible to follow IGETC may use Cal-GETC-approved courses in the same IGETC area(s)—whether newly created or newly approved as of Fall 2025.

Students following Cal-GETC and who completed IGETC-approved courses prior to Fall 2025 may apply those courses in the same Cal-GETC area(s).
