Engineering Technology Club rocks VEX U Tournament

Engineering Club at the competitionThe Engineering Technology Club achieved a significant milestone by reaching the final round of a VEX University robotics competition at Mt. SAC in February. This marked the fifth competition since last year, and it was the first time our teams competed in the final match.

Three teams from the Engineering Technology Club participated in the competition. Team One earned the Judges’ Award, while Team Two made history by becoming the first-ever finalist from Cerritos College, finishing in second place. These top two finishes represent the best achievement the club has had in the last two years. Team Three, a first-year team, placed 13th in the region while gaining valuable experience and developing their skills. Team One has quickly established itself as a strong competitor in VEX U robotics, ranking second in the region for skills and earning three Judges’ Awards over the past two years.

“Currently, there are 59 students in the club, many of whom have been dedicated to preparing for the upcoming tournaments,” said Engineering Design Technology Instructor and Club Advisor David Li. “They have been working day and night on their robotics designs, building and practicing their driving skills in the laboratory. Even during the last winter break, some members continued to work at one student's grandparents' garage to improve their design and coding skills. They truly deserve recognition for all their achievements.”

Students participated include: Andrio Achas, Alexio Achas, Amber Fields, Kirsten Aguirre, Anthony Bueno, Carlos Gonzalez, Michael Meadows, Devin Parrett, Haoran Han, Jon Walters, Alessandro Corona, Mark Gonzalez, Noah Pham, Diego Flores, Miguel Rayes, Benjamin Nunez, Damian Ani, William Offer, Jenisha Varghese, Rayana Bhardwaj, and Jazmin Abdon

The club's activities are supported by ASCC and the technology division.
