Cerritos College Board President Marisa Perez Elected First Vice President of California Community College Trustees Board

Marisa PerezCerritos College Board President Marisa Perez was re-elected to serve on the California Community College Trustees (CCCT) Board. Elected First Vice President, Trustee Perez will serve on the CCCT Board for three years from June 2020 – 2023. 

The CCCT Board consists of 21 members representing more than 400 California community college trustees and 73 community college districts. The Board provides input to the Community College League of California to help guide decisions to serve the organization's member colleges that ultimately impact student success. 

Perez was elected to the Cerritos College Board of Trustees in November 2012, and was re-elected in November 2016. She currently serves as President of the Board. Perez represents Trustee Area 4, including Hawaiian Gardens and portions of the cities of Lakewood, Bellflower, Cerritos, and Long Beach. Perez has held all three board officer positions: President (2012-13 and present), Clerk (2013-15), and Vice President (2015-16 and 2018-19). Perez also serves as a board advisor to a South Coast Air Quality Management District governing board member, and is a former White House advisor to President George W. Bush.  

“I am looking forward to serving another term to represent the 115 California community colleges across the state,” said Perez. “I am 100% focused on student success, which is why I will be diligently working to ensure that equity dollars are being used to support under-served students with the resources they need to complete a degree or transfer, and that our students know their rights to transfer-level courses through AB 705. My colleagues and I will also be championing policies to help our campuses widen their faculty hiring process to include more diverse candidates. We will also be ensuring there is an adequate Cal Grant allocation for California community college students. I'm excited to get to work."
