2021-22 Convocation Cooks up Secret Sauce for Student Success
Cerritos College kicked off the 2021-22 academic year with the Convocation on September 30. Attended by nearly 300 faculty and staff members via zoom, the Convocation was live streamed from the brand-new Performing Arts Center celebrating the campus re-opening this semester. LatinX Heritage Month Kicks off
The LatinX Heritage Month festivities kicked off on Friday, October 1 with a zoom
discussion Engaging Community, presented by Obed Silva, associate professor of English
at East Los Angeles College. Participants learned the history of Hispanic Heritage
Month and the evolution of terminology as it relates to identity and how to give back
to the community. More events are planned this week.

Environmental Justice: Honoring the Land and the People On It
Presented by Falcon Rising, join an engaging dialogue on local environmental and racial justice issues, "Environmental Justice: Honoring the Land and the People On It" on Thursday, October 7 at 2 p.m. Panelists include:Josiah Edwards, Sunrise Movement, Alexandria Contreras, Happy City Coalition, and Gloria Arellanes, Tongva/Chicana Elder. Show Your Support - Add Your Name to LGBTQ+ Outlist
October is LGBTQ+ History Month. In celebration of LGBTQ+ History Month and National Coming Out Day (October 11), Cerritos College is creating its first, OUTlist. See the flyer for more information. If you identify as a member of the LGBTQ+ community or an Ally, please add your name to the list by October 7.
Pop-Up COVID-19 Testing at Student Health Services
Per Board Policy BP 2905, students and staff are required to submit proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test weekly beginning October 1, 2021. Student Health Services will be hosting a pop-up testing outside its building beginning Tuesday, October 5. Tuesdays 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. and Thursdays 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. Visit the web for more info.

Art Gallery Window Dressings Featuring Keepers of Affliction by Juan Gomez
Artist Juan Gomez's Keepers of Affliction will be installed September 27 – October 9. The installation unites a series of fifteen abstract memory objects, each representing the artist’s own immigrant family’s experience of migration (and epigenetic transmigration).
