Mercedes-Benz MB Campus Celebrates Inaugural Certification
Mercedes-Benz USA’s MB Campus program at Cerritos College celebrated its first student Glennton Jones, who
successfully completed the Mercedes-Benz Registered Technician Certificate. Glennton is enrolled in
the College’s Automotive Import Technician Training Program (ITTP), and is pursuing a career in the automotive industry.
Mercedes-Benz USA’s Service and Parts Director Mike Dehdashti and Shop Foreman Dan
Smith from Mercedes- Benz of Anaheim presented the certificate of completion to Glennton on
October 13.
The Mercedes-Benz Registered Technician Path eLearnings provide students the opportunity
to complete the trainings required of Technicians at Mercedes-Benz dealerships. Completion
of this training earns students a Mercedes-Benz Registered Technician certificate,
and upon interning/working at a dealer for 6 months, the student is officially considered a Mercedes-Benz
Registered Technician. When a student completes the certification while in the program,
it will grant the student credit for the manufacturer-specified new hire training,
which may accelerate the student's opportunity to work on a broader variety of repairs
at the dealer.
Since 2019, Cerritos College has been a participant in Mercedes-Benz USA’s MB Campus program,
which helps train students who aspire to become Mercedes-Benz Registered Technicians. The
College is the only college in Southern California that offers the full MB Campus
as part of its curriculum.
“Glennton has been an outstanding student in the ITTP program and has shown an interest
in a career with a Mercedes-Benz dealership after graduation” said Leonard Glick,
automotive mechanical repair professor and ITTP coordinator.
The ITTP is a two-year automotive program designed to upgrade the technical competency
and professionalism of entry-level dealership technicians. Its curriculum is designed
collaboratively between various automakers and Cerritos College. The ITTP involves
not only attending classroom lectures and laboratories on import products at the college,
but also requires the student to gain work experience during their course of study
at an import auto dealership. For more information about the ITTP and the MB Campus
program, please contact Leonard Glick, ITTP coordinator at lglick@cerritos.edu.
