Board Appoints Dawn Green to Fill Vacancy
The Cerritos College Board of Trustees voted on October 19 to appoint Dawn Green to fill a vacancy in Trustee Area 2 left by Trustee Carmen Avalos’ departure. Culinary Arts Team Recognized by the Board
The Board of Trustees recognized the culinary arts faculty and staff for their dedication and commitment to our culinary arts students at the October 19 board meeting. The culinary arts program ranked sixth among the best culinary arts colleges in the U.S. by Universities.com. This recognition is a testament to the tireless work of our dedicated faculty and staff. Campus Celebrates Undocumented Student Action Week
Cerritos College celebrated the Undocumented Student Action Week from October 17-19. On October 17, Dr. Lynn Wang facilitated a discussion on DACA. Guest speaker Ju Hong showed his film Halmoni, his personal documentary as an undocumented immigrant from South Korea. Ju shared his story, his bold advocacy in the pursuit of justice for immigrants, how DACA has helped nearly a million youths like him, and the fear he faces as an immigrant due to the uncertainty of DACA's future.
Get Ready! Halloween Office Decorating Contest
The Halloween Office Decorating Contest returns this year. The contest will be held on Monday, October 31. The categories are: 1. Spookiest 2. Most Creative 3. Judges’ Favorite 4. Funniest. The winners will enjoy an office lunch party, courtesy of Dr. Fierro. Cerritos College Foundation will host its 37th Annual Golf Classic, presented by Tilden Coil Constructors on Thursday, October 27 at California Country Club. The tournament will open with registration at 8:30 a.m., breakfast sponsored by Porto's Bakery and Chick-Fil-A Pico Rivera, and a Putting Contest sponsored by Musty Putters.
