Edlund is a four-time Oscar winner and the man behind many of the successful Hollywood visual effects on films including Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, Ghostbusters, Poltergeist, Die Hard, and Alien 3. He shared his experience of working in the business from a young man shooting 16mm films to mega projects at George Lucas’ Industrial Light & Magic and throughout his career in Hollywood working with renowned directors such as George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, and Ivan Reitman.

“It’s important for students to get to meet people who have influenced the film industry. Mr. Edlund gave advice to the students about the importance of studying art, especially paintings in museums for lighting and composition, and how they should be taking photos all the time,” said Film Professor Steven Hirohama.

"Meeting Richard Edlund at the ASC Clubhouse was a valuable experience. I learned insights into the film industry both through Mr. Edlund’s personal and professional knowledge. Thank you Professor Hirohama and Cerritos College for offering this off-campus trip,” said one of the students who participated in the visit.
