Dual Enrollment Students Excel in California SkillsUSA Competition

Erik Lopez will represent California at the national championship

Dr Miodrag Micic, Aracely Flores, Erik Lopez, and Christian MunguiaCerritos College and Lynwood High School dual enrollment student Erik Lopez won first place in technical drafting at the SkillsUSA 2023 state competition in April. He will be representing California at the SkillsUSA National Competition in Atlanta, Georgia, in June.  Erik received a certificate of achievement in engineering design technology in 2022 and is graduating high school this year.

In addition, Aracely Flores came in second in the SkillsUSA state competition’s principles of the engineering division. She presented a project using gear and pulleys to demonstrate various engineering principles.  She is also a Cerritos College alumna with a certificate of achievement in engineering design technology (2022), and is graduating high school this year. Aracely is currently taking additional engineering design technology courses at the College and will be attending Cal Poly Pomona in mechanical engineering this fall.
