President/Superintendent Dr. Jose Fierro highlighted the college’s purpose of uplifting students, employees, and communities. Culinary Arts team

Culinary arts celebrates 50 years of excellence

The culinary arts program recently held a special luncheon commemorating its 50th anniversary. The menu featured five courses, each of which was inspired by culinary trends from a different decade. Members of the campus and local community enjoyed the delicious meal while learning about the program's history and accomplishments. Chef Michael Pierini, who played a vital role in the program's growth, presented the courses and shared the story of the program's journey. Last year, Chef Pierini celebrated his 30th year teaching Culinary Arts at Cerritos College. He has now handed over the Culinary Arts Director position to Jesusita Lopez.

Automotive technology recognized by GLANCDA

Faculty, students, and alumni of the automotive technology program attended the annual meeting of the Greater LA New Car Dealers Association (GLANCDA) at the Sheraton in Universal City on March 27. The program was recognized with an appreciation award for co-hosting workforce development events that support and encourage the development of student technicians in the Greater Los Angeles area. Congratulations!

Spring Job Fair attracts hundreds of job seekers

The career services/student employment services hosted its annual Spring Job Fair on April 4. More than 30 employers participated, including local businesses, government agencies, and Fortune 500 companies. Recruiters from each organization provided information on job and internship opportunities to attendees during the event. A wide variety of job options, such as clerical, government, hospitality, healthcare, law enforcement, retail, and sales, were available for attendees to explore.

Join the Falcon Games 2024: employees vs students kickball game

It's time for some friendly competition before we end the school year! Sign up to compete in the annual Falcon Games: Employees vs. Students Kickball Game on April 19. If you can't play on the field, we also invite the Cerritos College community to join us and cheer on your team! The Inter-Club Council will host pre-game activities, food, and snacks at Nancy Kelly Softball Field at noon. View the flyer.
