Cerritos College named national finalist for prestigious Bellwether Award
Cerritos College was selected as a national finalist for the 2024 Bellwether Awards. The college’s project, It Takes a Village: Supporting Student Housing and Basic Needs, was among the top 10 finalists in the Instructional Programs & Services category.

New Student Services and Administration Building breaks ground
College officials and the Board of Trustees, elected officials, and community members celebrated a groundbreaking for the new Student Services and Administration Building on February 21. Consisting of the student services, administration, and bookstore functions, the $95-million project is funded by Measure CC Bond dollars and a state funding allocation of $16 million secured by California Assembly Speaker Emeritus Anthony Rendon in 2022.

Campus members work together to create the Student First Framework in a retreat
More than 200 employees and students participated in developing our new Student First Framework in a retreat on March 1. Led by Dr. Al Solano, founder & coach at the Continuous Learning Institute, participants discussed four identified levers: Equitable Access, Completion, Career and Transfer Success, and Institutional Health, and how to strategize and move these levers to achieve the goal.

Rep. Linda Sánchez secures $1 million to expand Child Development Center
Congresswoman Linda T. Sánchez secured $1 million in federal funding to support the expansion of Cerritos College’s Child Development Center (CDC). The funding comes from the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2024, which President Biden signed into law on March 9.
