Beam signing marks the progress for new Student Services and Administration Building
On July 17, a beam signing ceremony celebrated the ongoing construction of the new Student Services and Administration Building at Cerritos College. Approximately 120 guests had their names permanently engraved on the new facility. Spanning 118,000 gross square feet, the building will serve as a grand feature of the college, creating a welcoming entrance to the campus for the community... First Family & Friends Cerritos College Night a success
The school relations office hosted the first Family & Friends Cerritos College Night on July 10. The event was attended by 182 future students and their families and aimed to provide them with the knowledge and tools for success at Cerritos College. Presentations were given in English and Spanish, covering the cost benefits of attending college, navigating college resources, and maintaining a work/school balance. Additionally, five current and former Cerritos College students shared insights about their studies, campus life, valuable resources, and tips for success. Grammy-nominated cellist Tina Guo rocks the Performing Arts Center
The Performing Arts Center at Cerritos College hosted Yamaha artist Tina Guo and her band for an open rehearsal on July 16. Around 200 people had an exclusive preview of Tina and the band's upcoming performance at Wacken Open Air, the world's largest metal festival. The evening began with her renowned Wonder Woman Main Theme. After the one-hour set, Tina and her band conducted a 30-minute Q&A session, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the rehearsal process and sharing their journeys and insights into careers in music.

Woodworking Chair Reuben Foat to talk about furniture-making
Woodworking Manufacturing Technology Chair Reuben Foat will participate in the artist talk on Wednesday, July 24, at 2 p.m. via Zoom at the Craft in America Center in Los Angeles during its gallery exhibition, Building Blocks: Process & Wood. Reuben and Ryan Taber, woodworking faculty at California State University Long Beach, will discuss their shared interest in reconsidering historic furniture processes and their perspectives on furniture education approaches and opportunities. Join Welcome Day on August 16
Get ready to welcome students to the fall 2024 semester at Welcome Day on Friday, August 16, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. The event will help students find all campus resources, take a campus tour, and get free lunch. Family Fun Day with free showing of movie Trolls on August 3
Please join us at our Summer Community Event on Saturday, August 3! Open to all, this free event will begin with a matinee showing of Trolls in the college’s Performing Arts Center. After the show, enjoy games, walk around our campus, and participate in fun troll-themed crafts and coloring. Frost Bite ice cream truck will be available for purchase.
