Falcons in Flight: Juan Ward finds redemption through second chance at life
Juan Ward began running cross country in eighth grade. In ninth grade, he transitioned to jumping and then to hurdling. He competed in hurdles for Long Beach Polytechnic High School. After graduating high school in 2014, he headed to Southern University in Baton Rouge. Medrano-Perez Scholarship recipients recognized
The Board of Trustees recognized Sharlize Lemus and Jean Ivie Ilago, recipients of the Perez-Medrano Scholarship through the Cerritos College Foundation on November 13. Sharlize, a mechanical engineering major, wants to become an EV engineer. Physics major Ivie hopes to work on flood control systems in third-world countries. Trustee Marisa Perez established the Perez-Medrano Scholarship in memory of her father, Joe Medrano. This scholarship is awarded to outstanding female STEM majors.

Outgoing Trustee Marisa Perez recognized for her service
The board of trustees recognized outgoing trustee Marisa Perez for her 12 years of service as a Cerritos College trustee at its November 13 board meeting. Marisa was elected to the Cerritos College Board of Trustees in November 2012 and re-elected in 2016 and 2020, representing Trustee Area 4. She has held all three board officer positions and was elected to the California Community College Trustee (CCCT) Board in 2017 and 2020, serving as its president from 2022 to 2023. Over the years, Marisa has supported student success through advocacy, leadership, and scholarships. We will miss you, Marisa!

Dr. Mickey authors article on integrating AI into career technical education
Dr. Miodrag “Mickey” Micic, Sc.D., Ph.D., M.T.M., CSWP, CFI, is a professor and chair of Engineering Design Technology and Plastics Manufacturing Technology. He authored an article, Artificial Intelligence in Career Technical Education, for the November issue of the Rostrum Magazine, published by the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges. In his article, Dr. Micic examined the role of artificial intelligence in Career Technical Education (CTE). He advocated for the widespread adoption of teaching CTE students how to use AI responsibly, critically evaluate its outputs, and apply it effectively in their work, as practiced in engineering design technology classes at Cerritos College.

Free Santa's Village coming to Cerritos College on December 7
Santa is coming back to Cerritos College on December 7! Everyone is invited to Santa’s Village at Cerritos College, featuring free photos with Santa Claus and Franco Falcon. Friends and families of all ages can participate and enjoy activities, including face painting, arts and crafts, games, the Taco Bite food truck, and sweet treats. College to host a virtual community forum on updates to Lot at 166th Street/Studebaker Road on December 2
Cerritos College will host a virtual forum to update residents about changes to the lot located at 166th Street and Studebaker Road. The Cerritos City Council approved the college's Temporary Use Permit (TUP) for four years in 2017. The TUP was renewed for five years beginning December 19, 2021, through December 19, 2026...
