Jennifer Guillen rises from adversity to empowerment and change

Jennifer Guillen was born in Bakersfield as the third of seven siblings. When she was just nine years old, her father abandoned the family, leaving her mother to struggle with drug addiction. This difficult situation forced Jennifer to take on adult responsibilities early; by age six, she had already learned to cook, manage household chores, and care for her younger siblings. Thankfully, her grandmother lived nearby and provided crucial support to Jennifer and the rest of the family during these difficult times... Link to the Falcons in Flight story about Jennifer

Psychology Club welcomes nine new members to Psi Beta national honor society

The Cerritos College Chapter of Psi Beta recently inducted nine students into the national honor society for psychology in community colleges. Psi Beta memberships are awarded based on scholarship, leadership, community service, and research accomplishments. An induction ceremony was held on April 23 for the following inductees: Emiliano Barajas, Jade Lynn Garcia, Leon Basilio Mateo, Angela De Jesus Rodriguez, Joshua Ryder Salgado, Ghaleb Jiries Samawi, and Joseph Alexander Villalta... Decades of Distinction Faculty Luncheon celebrates teaching excellence

Faculty members were celebrated for their dedicated service and impactful contributions to professional development during the Outstanding Faculty Awards ceremony on April 23. Organized by the Faculty Senate and the Professional Relations Committee, the event brought together faculty, administrators, staff, and students to celebrate excellence in teaching. 🏁 Cheer on El Velozo at the Red Bull Soapbox Race on May 16!

Our very own Cerritos College students, Arelie Marquez, Ruben Orozco, Gabriel Ramirez, Hector Ramirez, and Andrew Solis, are taking over the streets of Los Angeles! Members of the PUENTE and MESA programs have teamed up to form El Velozo: Los Ingenieros, and they are ready to compete in the legendary 2026 Red Bull Soapbox Race. Come out and support our team as they put their engineering skills and bravery to the test in their custom-built racer on Saturday, May 16, 2026, approx. 12:15 p.m. in Downtown L.A. Can't make it to DTLA? Show your support by following their journey on Instagram @el_velozo25. Donations are also welcome to help the team reach the finish line!
