Robotics team building momentum at VEX U World Championship
The Cerritos College robotics students showcased their skills at the 2026 VEX U Robotics
World Championship in St. Louis, Missouri, from April 25-27. Competing in the "Design"
division against 120 teams, they demonstrated significant progress.
A highlight was their 45-37 victory over Huazhong University of Science and Technology, one of China's top technology universities, a major achievement after last year's defeat to another international powerhouse. The team finished the qualification rounds with a 5-5 record, placing 23rd in their division, an improvement from the prior year. Unfortunately, their playoff hopes were dashed in their final match when they were disqualified late in the game.
Undeterred, the team is already planning for the next season, focusing on refining engineering designs and strategies to enhance their performance. With strong support from the Associated Students of Cerritos College (ASCC) and the Technology Division, they are eager to build on this year's momentum and aim for a deeper playoff run in the 2026-2027 season.
