Humanities and Social Sciences Division

The Humanities and Social Sciences division is currently closed until further notice in response to COVID-19 and the Governor’s Stay-At-Home order. We will continue to serve students online. Please contact the Humanities and Social Sciences division staff by email at for assistance. We are available online Monday through Friday 7:30- 4:30pm. Email will be regularly checked to respond to your questions and concerns.

HSS Building

The Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) Division is home to over a dozen academic departments including transfer and vocational programs. The Division faculty includes approximately 80 full-time and part-time members, teaching over 7,000 students each semester. Over the fall, spring and summer terms, the Division offers between 500 and 600 sections. The Division is managed by the Dean, a team of three clerical staff members, five student workers and seven faculty chairpersons. You can find the HSS Division in the basement of the Social Science Building.
