Department of Anthropology

AA Degree Transfer Information

The Cerritos College Anthropology Department offers an undergraduate education through its comprehensive curriculum that promotes an understanding of the variety of past and present human groups, the cultures and societies people create, the processes that animate cultural production and social life, and the processes that underlie human biological development and change. Students learn and apply the research methods and theoretical constructs used by anthropologists to investigate peoples and their social worlds. We offer courses in all four of the anthropological subfields; Archaeology, biological anthropology, linguistic anthropology and cultural anthropology. We are proud to offer 11 different Anthropology courses, the most offerings of any college in southern California. We also have a remarkable skeletal cast collection of modern human primates, non-human primates, early and later hominids, as well as some other mammals. Additionally, we have casts of early human stone tools, actual archaeological materials, and numerous lab/forensic materials and equipment. Lastly, the Cerritos College Anthropology Club is very active every year, with numerous outings and events. The above mentioned make Cerritos College Anthropology the place to be for Anthropology majors, ensuring our students are highly competitive for transfer.
