Retiree Paul Badzey recognized

Yvette Tafoya, Paul Badzey, and Laura Estrada The Board of Trustees recognized Paul Badzey, Admissions and Records Tech I, for his years of dedicated service to Cerritos College.

Paul is a proud alumnus of Cerritos College, and his journey is a true reflection of the Cerritos College story. He began his career as a part-time employee in admissions and records, and later became a full-time employee while pursuing his microcomputer accounting clerk degree. He also served for two semesters in the facilities department, demonstrating early on his willingness to serve wherever the college needed him.

For more than three decades, Paul has been responsible for receiving and processing transcripts from other institutions. He understands the value of his work and the importance of processing transcripts accurately and on time so students can continue their education without delay.

Over the years, Paul has helped thousands of students. What sets Paul apart is not just what he does, but how he goes about it. He takes the time to help students truly navigate the college environment. He's patient and kind when helping a student and their family, offering encouragement and reassurance during what can often be a stressful process.

Paul has also been a wonderful colleague. He genuinely enjoyed our department gatherings — the food and the camaraderie — because they were fun and gave us a chance to step away from the phones and the counter and connect as a team. He has fostered strong professional relationships with staff and faculty across the entire college and has always been willing to help.

As he enters retirement, Paul is looking forward to relaxing in Texas and spending quality time with his family. The first item on his to-do list is turning off all of his alarm reminders – a well-deserved reward after 33 years.

Thank you, Paul, for exceptional service, and best wishes for a fun, healthy, and fulfilling retirement in Texas.
