The Real Inspector Hound and Trifles

WHAT: Get ready for an unforgettable evening this holiday season! The Performing Arts Center at Cerritos College invites you to enjoy not one, but two compelling one-act productions in a spectacular double feature. Immerse yourself in the mystery of Trifles by Susan Glaspell and the sharp-witted comedy of The Real Inspector Hound by Tom Stoppard. Don’t miss this thrilling theatrical experience.

Step into a world where the ordinary becomes mysterious and the absurd becomes essential. This lively double feature pairs two theatrical gems that couldn’t be more different—but both will keep you guessing, gasping, and laughing.

First Show: Trifles
In a cold, quiet farmhouse, a woman stands accused of murder. While the men search for hard evidence, two women uncover the truth hidden in the overlooked details of daily life. This suspenseful drama highlights early feminist themes and shows that even the smallest clues can speak the loudest.

Second Show: The Real Inspector Hound
The evening continues with a classic whodunit… or does it? Two theater critics find themselves unexpectedly swept into the plot of the play they are reviewing. As reality unravels around them, chaos and comedy collide. Witty, quirky, and delightfully meta, this play blends Agatha Christie-style mystery with Monty Python-esque humor.

Whether you enjoy sharp social commentary or off-the-wall comedy, this double bill offers an unforgettable journey through murder, mystery, and mayhem. Come for the clues, stay for the chaos!
