What to Do before your first day of school

  • Login to your MyCerritos account
    • Need help? View the FAQs
  • Check your Message Center in your MyCerritos account in Student Center
  • Check your To Do list in your MyCerritos account in Student Center
    • View the To Do list on the right-hand side
      • Click on each item to view
    • Click on "Pending Financial Aid Task"
      • Create an account from the link on your To Do List
      • You must submit all required documents to complete your Financial Aid file 
  • Resolve any Holds you have in your MyCerritos account in Student Center
    • View the Holds on the right-hand side
  • Check your class schedule in your MyCerritos account 
    • Follow our How to View your Class Schedule Guide
    • Make sure you are enrolled in the correct classes by checking the type of class and dates
      • Online: All instructions and interaction are online with no mandatory synchronous or in-person meetings.
      • Live Remote/Online: There are required scheduled remote meetings in real-time that are noted in the schedule of classes. All instructions and interaction are online.
      • Hybrid: There is a combination of scheduled in-person or live remote meetings and online asynchronous teaching and learning with regular and effective interaction in both modalities.
      • Hyflex: Students will have the flexibility to participate in-person, remotely, and/or online asynchronously.
      • Online with Required Activities: All instruction and interaction will take place online except for either noted assessments and/or specified activities which will be in-person or remote. 
    • Check if you are on any waitlists. A waitlist class does not have any seats available; you may add yourself to the waitlist by clicking “Wait list if class is full” when enrolling in MyCerritos. 
  • Need to Change Your Major? Submit the Major Change Form online
    • In order to receive Financial Aid for your classes, the classes must be on your student Education plan
  • Learn about the type of fees. Pay fees in your MyCerritos account
  • Get your physical Student ID Card at the ID Center (in the Admin Quad). Make sure you paid your Cerritos College Student Activities (CCSA) fee  
  • Buy a Parking Permit. You must be enrolled in classes to purchase the permit.
  • View the Campus Map
  • Join a Tour!
  • If interested in extracurriculars, check out our programs to make sure you apply on time (ex. Umoja, Puente, Transfer Academy, etc.)
  • Check class syllabus posted on Canvas to see what textbooks you need
  • Purchase or rent your books through the bookstore (in-person or online)
  • Visit the Cerritos College Library in-person
    • LC/LB - Learning Resource Center/Library on the Campus Map
  • Check out the Success Center in-person or online for free tutoring services
    • SSC – Student Success Center on the Campus Map
  • Join a Club on Campus! Learn more about our clubs
  • Sign up for Metro Go Pass (Free Transit for Students) 
    • Submit the form
    • To receive Metro Go Pass, you must present your student ID card to Student Life & Leadership (SLL)
  • Download the Cerritos College App for updates, maps, events, and more

 

What to do on your first day of school

  • Arrive early to get parking and find your classes before they start
    • Only Park in the white (Student) parking spots (1, 7, 8, 10)
  • Attend all of your classes!  
    • You must attend the first meeting of each class. Students who do not attend the first day of class are subject to being dropped. Make sure you attend and are on time for class (in-person) and/or online. For your online classes, you must login via Canvas on the first day.
    • If on the waitlist, arrive early and attend the first day and talk with the Professor after class. If the class is online, email the professor before the class begins
  • Be aware of the drop deadlines to drop a class without a W on your transcript
