About TRIO
Our Mission
TRIO Student Support Services at Cerritos College is here to help students reach their academic, personal, and career goals. TRIO is a federally funded program that provides free, ongoing support to help students stay enrolled, succeed academically, graduate, and transfer to a four-year university.
Our Philosophy
We believe students should not have to navigate college alone. Many students—especially first-generation students, students from low-income households, and students with disabilities—face barriers in college that others may not. TRIO exists to make sure students have equal access to support, a clear path to their goals, and a team that helps them stay on track.
Our Holistic Approach
Our approach is built on the belief that every student can succeed when they have the right support system in place. We focus on the "whole student"—we look at your wellness, your career goals, and your life outside of school.
What This Means for You
TRIO is a program with a support system that helps you move from unsure to prepared. Instead of guessing your way through college, you get guidance, structure, accountability, and a team that works with you over time.
Onboarding Steps
The first step is completing the application. After that, students may need to submit supporting documents such as income verification, residency documentation, or SAS verification if applicable. TRIO may follow up for clarification or to schedule a meeting. If accepted, students attend orientation, meet with program staff, and begin their plan. Applying to TRIO does not guarantee acceptance, but students will be guided toward the right next step and other resources if needed
