Student Experience
What Student Life in TRIO Can Look Like
TRIO is meant to be more than appointments and checklists. It is a student experience built around connection, growth, and exposure to opportunities that help students see what is possible. Students are not just told about transfer, careers, and campus resources—they are given opportunities to experience them.
Events, Workshops, and Campus Experiences
As part of TRIO, students can participate in university visits, financial literacy workshops, educational and cultural activities, academic success workshops, and community-building events. Students may also hear from professional speakers and university representatives who can help make future goals feel more real and achievable.
University Visits
Visiting a four-year campus helps students move from imagining transfer to believing it is possible. University visits give students the opportunity to explore campuses, learn what different institutions are like, and picture themselves continuing their education after Cerritos College.
Professional Speaker Series and Workshops
TRIO students can participate in workshops and events focused on success skills, financial literacy, academic growth, transfer readiness, and career exploration. Speaker events and university representatives can also help students hear directly from people who have already navigated college, transfer, and professional pathways.
Community and Belonging
A strong student experience includes connection. TRIO helps students build community with other students who may be facing similar barriers, questions, and responsibilities. That sense of belonging matters. Students are more likely to stay engaged and confident when they know they are not doing this alone.
