David then transferred to California State University, Long Beach and continued his studies philosophy and psychology. He graduated with his Bachelor’s degree in philosophy from CSULB with honors in 1983. He continued his education and attended Fuller Theological Seminary and graduated with a Master of Divinity degree in 1987.
During the course of his college and seminary education, Pastor Van Lant served as a youth pastor at Bethel Reformed Church in Bellflower, California. Later, he served as the Pastor of English Ministries for St. Paul Evangelical Community Church in Artesia, California. Pastor David Van Lant is currently retired, but still enjoys giving back to his community of Bellflower by serving as an elder and volunteer at Encounter Christian Church.
When asked what advice he can give to current students, Pastor Van Lant said, “The main thing is to look at your education as a marathon, not a race. Do not over work yourself and fight off any discouragement”.
