Voters Approve Cerritos College G.O. Bond Measure

Voters in the November 8 election approved Cerritos College’s $425 million General Obligation Bond measure, providing funding for the continuing renovation of the 67-year-old campus. Measure CC received a total of 51,606 “yes” votes or 57.60 percent of the total votes. Passage of the measure required at least a 55 percent vote of confidence... First-Ever Meet and Greet Event Brings Holiday Cheer and Community to Campus

The College's first Holiday Meet and Greet event was a success. On Saturday, December 10, community members gathered on campus for a photo opportunity with Santa and the campus mascot Franco Falcon, balloon art, face painting, a train ride, and refreshments. WINTER WONDERLAND President’s Holiday Party Bring Campus Together

The campus community spread warmth and cheer during the annual holiday reception hosted by President Dr. Jose L. Fierro on December 8. Employees enjoyed delectable food and dessert prepared by the award-winning Culinary Arts Program, entertainment led by the Music Department, and each other's company. Men's Soccer Celebrates All-American Selections and Coach of the Year

Sophomore defender Jaret Rocha (Paramount HS) was selected to the United Soccer Coaches All-America teams among Division III (non-scholarship) community colleges' 1st Team, while sophomore midfielder Antonio Negrete (St. John Bosco HS) was a 2nd Team selection. Chris Richardson Receives Joe Vigil Sports Science Award from the United States Track & Field

In his 10 seasons as the Cerritos College track and field and cross country head coach, Chris Richardson has always worked hard to find new techniques to help his student-athletes improve. Falcon Alumnus Donte Green Returns as New Campus Police Officer

Cerritos College alumnus Donte Green was sworn in by Chief Don Mueller as a new Campus Police Officer on December 8. Donte joined the CCPD after 14 years as a police officer with the Compton Unified School District Police Department. He attended Cerritos College before transferring to St. John's University in New York where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. Welcome back to Cerritos College, Officer Green!

Kelly Kwan Named Employee of the Month of November 2022

The Outstanding Classified/Confidential Employee Selection Committee named Kelly Kwan as the recipient of the Outstanding Classified/Confidential Employee of the Month Award for November 2022. Kelly began his employment with the district in the Public Affairs Department on May 1, 2001. Re-Elected Trustees Sworn-In and New Board Officers Selected for 2023

Re-elected trustees James Cody Birkey (Area #3), Zurich Lewis (Area 7), and Dr. Shin Liu (Area #5) were sworn in at the December 8 board meeting. The Board also elected new officers for 2023, electing Trustee Liu as the new board president, Trustee Dr. Sandra Salazar (Area #6) as vice president, and Trustee Mariana Pacheco (Area #1) as clerk.

A Space For Healing Remembers Club Q Shooting Victims and Embraces Inclusion

P.R.I.D.E. Scholars hosted A Space for Healing event on December 6 to commemorate those who lost their lives in the Club Q shooting in Colorado Springs in November, and to provide a space to process. Candles were lit for the souls of five members of the LGBTQ+ community that were killed in the incident. The P.R.I.D.E. Scholars is an LGBTQ+ student support program that aims to foster a supportive and safe atmosphere for LGBTQ+ students to ensure their success at Cerritos College and beyond.
