Cerritos College Recognized for Solar Panel Technician Trainings and Expanding Job Opportunities

Cerritos College's Advanced Transportation Technology and Energy program (ATTE) and Economic Development Department were recognized with the South Bay Workforce Investment Board's Training Provider Award for their joint effort in facilitating the Electrical Field Service Technician program. 

The 18-week Electrical Field Service Technician training program provided job seekers with an intensive training session in the high-demand field of solar panel development. More than 80 percent of participants secured jobs after completing the program.

"Providing needed job skills in transportation and energy fields is our key mission," said Jannet Malig, Director of Advanced Transportation Technology & Energy department.  "We strive to expand job opportunities for students, residents and businesses across the region.  We are humbled by this recognition," echoed Belle Gomez, Director of Community Advancement & Economic Development.

The Career and Technical Education Outcomes Survey (CTEOS) is a survey of former students in CE programs, conducted on year after exiting from the community college system. The regional survey responders include students in the 2013-2014 academic year completed awards or skills-builder courses, and did not enroll the following academic year. There were 9,775 Los Angeles and Orange County students who participated in the survey.
