Chancellor Dr. Sonya Christian shares Vision 2030, roadmap for California Community Colleges 

California Community Colleges Chancellor Dr. Sonya Christian visited Cerritos College on February 20. During the visit, she presented Vision 2030, a state-wide community college action plan to promote equity in educational access and success for underserved students and close the gap. After the presentation, Dr. Christian joined Dr. Jose Fierro in the monthly President's Hour to connect with the college staff and students. The college will continue the conversation on student success to create the Students First Framework aligned with Vision 2030.

Officials breaking grounds

New Student Services and Administration Building breaks ground

College officials and the Board of Trustees, elected officials, and community members celebrated a groundbreaking for the new Student Services and Administration Building on February 21. Consisting of the student services, administration, and bookstore functions, the $95-million project is funded by Measure CC Bond dollars and a state funding allocation of $16 million secured by California Assembly Speaker Emeritus Anthony Rendon in 2022... League award recipients

Dental hygiene and mental health worker faculty honored with Excellence Award

Faculty and staff at Cerritos College were selected for the 2024 League for Innovation in Community Colleges Excellence Award. The health occupations and dental hygiene honorees were recognized for their collaborative effort in introducing the first-ever bachelor's degree program at Cerritos College in dental hygiene in 2023. Dr. Jaclyn Ronquillo-Adachi represents the college’s renowned mental health worker program... Link to the full story about the League Excellence Award

College celebrates reopening of Norwalk-La Mirada classroom location

Cerritos College celebrated the reopening of its classroom location at the Norwalk-La Mirada Adult School with a reception on February 15. The location opened in 2017, and closed down due to the pandemic from 2020-2023.  With the reopening of these La Mirada location classes, residents across the district's eastern portion will regain better access to higher education. In partnership with the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District, Cerritos College offers high-demand apprenticeship and math classes closer to La Mirada residents.

University Fair February 29

The semi-annual University Fair is coming to Student Center on February 29 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Students can meet representatives from 40+ colleges/universities, including many of our local CSUs, UCs, and independent schools (such as the Biola University, USC, and Chapman). Ask questions about the university itself, transfer admissions requirements, and more. Encourage students to join the scavenger hunt for free lunch and raffle prizes. View the flyer.

A Street Car Named Desired

A Streetcar Named Desire coming to the Performing Arts Center

Coming to the Performing Arts Center at Cerritos College, Tennessee William's Iconic play A Streetcar Named Desire is about Blanche DuBois, her sister, Stella, and Stella's husband, Stanley. It's a story about what happens when a woman who fancies herself a Southern belle falls from her state in society and has to live with her poorer sister and her husband. The Cerritos Community College District is accepting applications to fill a Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee vacancy. This committee was established to oversee the expenditure of money for the construction, repair, and modernization of campus projects.
