ASL Instructor Edward Kelly recognized with the ESGR Patriot Award
On October 17, American Sign Language instructor Edward Kelly received a surprise
visit from his student Eddie Trejo and Gordon Crane, a representative from the Employer
Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). During this visit, Eddie and Gordon presented
Edward with the Patriot Award. Eddie, who serves in the Army National Guard, nominated
Kelly for his support in facilitating Eddie's studies while he was away for annual
training, as well as for his dedication and professionalism in working with students
who are also service members.
The Patriot Award is granted by the ESGR, a branch of the Department of Defense. It recognizes the efforts made to support citizen warriors through various measures, including flexible schedules, time off before and after deployment, assistance for families, and granting leaves of absence when needed. Congratulations, Edward, and thank you for supporting our student veterans!
