Cerritos College Honors Erin Miles with Memorial Manager of the Year Award
The Association for Cerritos College Management Employees (ACCME) honored Erin Miles,
who passed away last year, for her impact on Cerritos College. Erin's husband, Blair,
and her children, Carly and Elise, accepted the posthumous Manager of the Year award
on her behalf at the May 20 board meeting.
In memory of Erin Miles, ACCME President Dr. Elizabeth Riley announced that this award will now carry her name – The Erin Miles Memorial Manager of the Year Award – as a testament to her unwavering dedication, compassion, and integrity.
Erin was not just a manager; she was a beacon in the campus community. As the Director of Diversity, Compliance, and Title IX, she approached her work with an unparalleled commitment to justice and fairness. Erin was known for tireless advocacy for students and staff, always taking the time to listen and address concerns with warmth and understanding. Her colleagues often remarked on her ability to foster a safe, inclusive environment, a skill rooted in her genuine compassion.
Her legacy extends beyond her professional achievements. Erin was a devoted mother and wife, and her love for her family was evident in every story she shared. She would light up when talking about her daughters, Carly and Elise, and the adventures they shared. Erin's commitment to her family was unwavering, and she balanced her demanding role with the joys of being a mom.
"As we reflect on her life, we remember the many ways Erin touched ours. From her infectious smile to her remarkable ability to uplift those around her, she embodied kindness and strength. Her colleagues fondly recalled moments with her, whether sharing laughter over lunch, walking together around campus, or discussing the challenges of advocacy work. She was not just a co-worker; she was a friend, a mentor, and a source of inspiration," said Dr. Riley.
"Today, as we present this award in her honor, let us commit to upholding the values she instilled in us. Let us advocate for justice, lead with compassion, and support one another as she did. Erin’s spirit will live on in the work we do and in the lives we touch.”
Thank you, Erin, for everything you brought into our lives. You are deeply missed but will never be forgotten."
