I am interested in making work involving the human figure and texts and symbols from our contemporary world. I work hard to make my work poetical and highly representational, at the same time. I am currently working on a series about relatives and friends of relatives dealing with issues about gender.

Samantha Minear has a master's degree from California State University Long Beach where she proudly studied with Domenic Cretara and Yu Ji. Her undergraduate degree is surprisingly in math and American Literature, but she has always loved art the most. She is interested in combining the human figure with our contemporary culture and has a studio in downtown Long Beach.

Samantha Minear began teaching at Cerritos College in 2017, including ART110 (Freehand Drawing).
