College and Community Celebrate a Festive Lunar New Year
Cerritos College welcomed the Year of the Monkey with a festive Chinese Lunar New
Year Celebration on February 17.
The event opened with a dazzling traditional Chinese lion dance that featured dancers in a large red lion and two golden cubs that danced through the room to traditional Chinese drum beats. Following the lion dance,there was a variety of other performances, including Chinese opera, folk and cultural dances, traditional songs, and martial arts that fascinated the audience.
Participants also enjoyed free food, Chinese desserts, and prizes generously donated by businesses, including the Cake Korner, Panda Express, and Tea Station. In addition, the event featured workshops showcasing calligraphy, brush painting, photo booth, handcrafts, and paper toys.
More than 200 guests attended the celebration.
