Toni Grijalva, Community Relations Coordinator, Named Employee of the Month of March 2016

Toni with Board of Trustees and Dr. FierroThe Outstanding Classified Employee Selection Committee named Toni Grijalva as the recipient of the Outstanding Classified/ Confidential Employee of the Month Award for March 2016.

Toni began her career at Cerritos College in December 1984 in the Community Education department as a short-term temporary employee. She began her full-time career in December 1986 as a Secretary Clerk in Student Activities. Toni moved on to Program Facilitator for Economic Development in 1999 and in 2007 was promoted to her current position as the Community Relations Coordinator in Public Affairs.

Toni demonstrates her passion and love for Cerritos College in every aspect of her job, working long hours and weekends to handle events. Toni is responsible for multiple projects and high-profile events on and off campus. Most recently Toni coordinated the College’s Lunar New Year Celebration which hosted over 600 community members and students. Toni did such a great job she was asked to coordinate the Taste and Experience Korea event, and this event welcomed 800 students and community members.

Toni is known and loved throughout the community and campus for her tireless work to raise awareness about Cerritos College. She serves as the college co-chair for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Norwalk and is instrumental in coordinating it on campus. Toni also works closely with all 10 chambers of commerce across the area where she has cultivated strong relationships to ensure that the District maintains visibility in the community.

"Toni, we commend you for your outstanding service and dedication," said Dr. Jose Fierro, as he presented the award to Toni.
