11th Annual Transfer Celebration Boasts Record Number of Graduates

The Cerritos College Transfer Center hosted its 11th annual Transfer Celebration on May 13. This year’s celebration featured the College’s largest number of transfer students with more than 200 students transitioning to some of the nation’s most respected four-year colleges and universities, including Biola University, University of La Verne, Loyola Marymount University, University of Maine, Stanford, USC, Whittier College, UC Berkeley, UCLA, among other notable schools.

Featured speakers included economics major and ASCC Chief Justice Trent Coates, transferring to UC Berkeley in the fall to pursue a bachelor’s degree in environmental economics and policy and former transfer student Melissa Centeno who graduated from UCLA in 2011 with a bachelor’s in political science. Melissa was also admitted to Berkeley Law School while she was a senior at UCLA. She is an associate attorney focusing on general corporate and securities law. English Professor Dr. Daniel Gardner served as the final event speaker. Dr. Gardner gave eloquent remarks that inspired students aim for the stars.
