1,500 Seniors Attended Linda Sánchez’ Annual Senior Fair at Cerritos College

Senior citizens participating in the Senior FairCerritos College hosted Congresswoman Linda Sánchez’ 14th Annual Senior Fair on August 12. Nearly 1,500 seniors and caregivers participated in the free event that featured health screenings, information sessions, legal services and consultations with agencies such as the Social Security Administration, Department of Veterans Affairs and senior advocacy groups.

“I take it as a personal responsibility to provide the most up to date information and services that can help the seniors in my district,” said Congresswoman Sánchez (CA-38). “I also enjoy talking with seniors one-on-one and hearing their thoughts on what is important to them.”

Approximately 70 vendors were onsite to providing free services such as screenings for bone density, blood pressure, sun damage, and glucose levels. Other vendors provided information to seniors regarding financial planning, reverse mortgages, elder rights, housing rights, and caregiver assistance.

“I was able to take care of a lot of businesses today, including a blood pressure check, hearing screenings and medicine/prescription reviews, all in one place. This is great,” said a participant.

A free lunch was provided by the ABC Unified School District.
