Cerritos College Art Professor Wins American Inhouse Design Award

Bonnie Barrett with her design pieceBonnie Barrett, professor of graphic art and computer graphics at Cerritos College, won the Graphic Design USA (GDUSA) American Inhouse Design Award for her 2015 Cerritos College Faculty and Student Art Exhibit catalog design.

The American Inhouse Design Awards is the original and premier showcase for inhouse designers, marketing and communications departments within corporate, publishing houses, non-profits, universities and government agencies. It recognizes their creativity, the special challenges they face, and their contributions.

Cerritos College is the only community college in the region that produces a full catalog for faculty and student art exhibits.

"Graphic Design USA is a highly-regarded organization with a long and storied history,” said James MacDevitt, director/curator of the Cerritos College Art Gallery. “The fact that GDUSA has acknowledged the design for the 2015 joint Faculty and Student Art Exhibition catalog is testament to the design skills and effort of our graphic design professor and art department chair Bonnie Barrett, as well as all the Cerritos College faculty and student participants that contributed their art to this publication."

More than 20 scholarships are given to student artists every year. To support the effort, donate through the Cerritos College Foundation.

Bonnie’s award-winning design is featured in GDUSA’s August issue.
