Trotters Give Back While Getting in Some Exercise

Cerritos College's 19th Annual Turkey Trot helps families in need

Runners, walkers and strollers alike all participated in Cerritos College's 18th annual Turkey Trot on November 17.Turkey Trot participants The College's Thanksgiving time tradition gives students, faculty, staff and community members an opportunity to pound the pavement before they pound their way to Thanksgiving dinner while benefiting the local community. A total of 1,227 canned food donation, including 336 from Child Development Center, 280 from Library and Academic Success, and $127 cash donation exceeded previous year’s donation. All of these will benefit the City of Norwalk's Food Bank.

The event was sponsored by the Health, Physical Education, Dance ant Athletics Division, Student Health and Wellness Center and Staff Development. The event offered a great way to combine fitness, fun and the holiday spirit of giving.

First place (female staff/faculty): Belle Gomez (Economic Development)

Information Technology received the Spirit Award for having the most staff participation.

Additionally, the event hosted game and exercise activities for children at the Child Development Center.
