Forensics Team Beats Cal States at Final Tournament of the Year

Individual Speaking competitorsCerritos College’s forensics team had an exciting end of the year competition. The team tied for fourth place out of 21 schools at the Pacific Southwest Collegiate Forensics Association Spring Cool-Off Tournament for novices at Rio Hondo College. Cerritos College team beat out every Cal State in attendance as well as rivals such as Pasadena City College and Orange Coast College.

Seventeen students competed for Cerritos, including eleven first-time competitors. In individual speaking events, Ellie Herbert took first place in speech-to-entertain, and the team of Christina Ledezma and David Fernandez placed first in duo interpretation. Luis Vasquez was a finalist in impromptu speaking.

Debate winnersIn debate, Michelle Little and newcomer Imani Wafer both won their elimination rounds to receive gold awards. Newcomers Nathan Williams and Elijah Teixeira received silver awards.
